Community Notices
From the Principal
We are absolutely thrilled to share some exciting news and extend our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for your incredible support. Thanks to your generosity and the unwavering dedication of our community, we've achieved some remarkable milestones that we're truly proud to share.
Firstly, thank you to everyone who supported our recent Democracy BBQ. Thank you to Coles and Woolworths for providing us with vouchers to purchase items for our BBQ. Thank you to Tassie Farm Meats for donating sausages. Your contributions, whether through donations, volunteering, or attending the event, have been instrumental in helping us raise funds for our Prep-1 shade sail project. We're overjoyed to announce that we have now ordered the shade sail, ensuring a more comfortable and enjoyable outdoor experience for our youngest learners.
A special thanks to our School Association committee for their collaborative efforts in organising the BBQ, from gathering donations to preparing, cooking, and serving delicious food. Your hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed, and we're immensely grateful for all that you do. We are pleased to acknowledge the success of our Easter raffle, another wonderful initiative of our School Association committee that has contributed to our fundraising efforts.
We extend our appreciation to Ravenswood IGA for their generous donation of Easter eggs, which allowed the Easter Bunny to spread joy and excitement among our students at the end of the day last Thursday. Your support has truly made a difference in the lives of our school community, and we are immensely grateful for your generosity.
The Launceston Ukulele Jamboree and the volunteers supported our students in learning the ukulele to perform in the Brisbane Street Mall on Saturday, March 23rd. It was a joyous occasion, witnessing our students showcase their talents and feeling the support from their families. We couldn't be prouder of their accomplishments.
We are delighted to share the regulation track has been installed by EduPaint, made possible by the fundraising efforts of Rotary Tamar Sunrise. This new addition to our school environment has been a game-changer, with students, staff, and families embracing the opportunity to hop, skip, and jump their way to class each day. It's been wonderful to see so many utilising the track not only for physical activity but also to concentrate, improve balance, and engage in collaborative play.
As we reflect on these achievements, we're reminded of the incredible power of community and collaboration. Together, we've made a significant difference in the lives of our students, creating a nurturing and enriching environment where they can thrive and succeed.
Once again, thank you for your unwavering support and commitment to our school community. We look forward to continuing this journey together, celebrating more successes, and creating lasting memories for our students.
Kind regards,
Mrs Katie Wightman
Principal

Kindergarten
Kinder have had such a wonderful start to the beginning on the year, they have quickly settled and are forming connections with each other. They are showing that they are great learners and that they are responsible as they take ownership for packing away our resources and our belongings. We can’t wait to see what this group get up to as the year progresses.
Mrs Ky Salter
Kindergarten Teacher
Community Connections Centre
Welcome to 2024. I will be continuing my role as the Well Being Officer for families at Waverley.
Many of you know me, and I will be continuing the work that Mrs Paton was involved in. These roles include:
- Connection to various services such as Anglicare, 26Ten, The Smith Family, Ravenswood CFLC and many others
- Applying to participate in various parenting programs
- Referrals for personal and family support
- Assistance with online tasks such as Working with Vulnerable Persons Check, Driver's licence tests, online adult learning eg: helping check assignments, assistance with enrolling in courses.
I will be out and about on Thursdays near the netball turf area from 2:30-3:00pm for a chat. You can make an appointment to see me in person by leaving a message at the school office.
I am looking forward to catching up with you all. Please come up and say hello!
Mrs Sally Foley

Early Years Programs

Uniform
Hats must be worn by students when outside in terms 1 and 4. Please check with your child that they have their school hat. School hats can be purchased from our uniform shop.
School shorts or trousers are plain black. We have some examples of shorts and track pants in our uniform shop that can be purchased from Kmart. We also have a range of second-hand items to give away or that you can purchase. Our staff in the School Office are very happy to help you and your child(ren) with all uniform needs.
Please note: branded leggings and very short hot pant style shorts are not part of our school uniform.

School Association
The School Association is made up of the parents, staff and community members of a school. The School Association is an important part of the school, working with the Principal to achieve shared outcomes for learners and for the whole school community.
The School Association Committee is an elected group of members that work together for the benefit of the school. The Committee manages and conducts the affairs of the School Association and performs administrative and decision-making tasks on behalf of the School Association. The Committee is made up of parents, staff and community members.
Parent participation on our Committee is highly valued.
We have advertised for parents/carers to join a fundraising sub-committee of the School Association.
